    Driving concerns may arise when spatial deficits affect your ability to make left turns, to park, or to go through construction areas safely.

    Other Needed Specialists:

    • Urologists: Parkinson's can affect the nerves controlling the bladder, leading to symptoms like overactive bladder, difficulty emptying the bladder, or urinary retention.

    • Cardiologists: A pacemaker for bradycardia caused by PD may be needed. Routine cardiologic care makes sense for patients with PD. A cardiologist can help manage Neurogenic Orthostatic Hypotension (nOH) and ensure that the heart rhythm is normal. He or she can also screen for additional cardiologic problems that may be linked to PD.

    Transportation: 

    • Tri-Town Connector; (413) 591-3826; is a local transit service providing low-cost door-to-door rides in the South County community. Rides can be booked by phone or with the TripShot rideshare smartphone app. Rides are $2 or $4, depending on pick-up and drop-off destination. Download TripShot Seniors  (60+) may purchase a discounted book of tickets for 10 one-way rides, at the Claire Teague Senior Center transportation office, in Great Barrington, weekdays 8AM to 4PM. Ticket books may also be purchased on the vans and at other local Senior Centers. Prices for these discounted tickets are: $15.00 for travel within one town (a 25% discount) and $25.00 for multi-town trips (a 38% discount). Rides are also available (for seniors only) to New Marlborough, from 8:00AM to 4:00PM, on weekdays only ($4.00 each way), and to medical appointments in Pittsfield for $15.00 (round trip) but only between 8:00AM and 4:00PM, on Mondays and Wednesdays.
